BIG 6 UNDERGOES BIG RUSH TO THE NEXT ROUND
5 more games. Yes. 5 more games and the curtains will fall for the 1st round of eliminations in the 1st PEX WHATIFSPORTS.COM Tournament. But with just 5 games to go, the BIG 6 side of the league is into a mad scramble for the 5 available 2nd round slots. From the way the division is stacked up right now, it seems that only the division leader, PEX_APOLLO_NETBURNERS, is assured of a slot for the 2nd round of eliminations. Sporting a 10-1 Win-Loss slate, the worst that they could be is 2nd place even if they lose all the remaining 5 games in the current round. The only consequence of losing all those games would be a bad carry-over record and losing momentum. But at the rate the hottest team in the league is going right now, I am not inclined to think that they're gonna lose even half of those 5 games. With 1 slot locked for the NETBURNERS, let's now focus on the 5 remaining teams.
Second running PEX_GINEBRA_KINGS, a team that was once expected to top this division, is not far from the rest of the pack. With a 6-5 slate, they are just 2 games clear from the 4-team jam that are currently tied from the 3rd to the 6th slots. The KINGS who are currently in a 3-game losing streak needs to win at least 3 more games to assure itself safe passage to the next round.
We now go to the 4 team logjam which is quite interesting.
PEX_YOKOHAMA_PIPERS, PEX_ALASKA_DOORS, PEX_PAIN_RELIEVERS and PEX_ALLANJOID_PANTHERS. These are the 4 teams currently stucked in a 4-way battle for the remaining 3 slots for the next round. Of the 4 teams, I pick THE ALASKA DOORS as having the least chance of advancing to the next round. The ALASKA DOORS have had a very inconsistent round. And looking back at the first 5 games wherein they were ranged against teams from their own division, the DOORS failed miserably winning just 1 of 5 games with the lone victory via forfeiture. This is a very difficult predicament for the DOORS since they would be meeting the same set of tormentors in a rematch of the first 5 games of the league.
My prediction, unless the DOORS finds a way to make his players weave their magic, they would be heading for an early exit.
