FAVORITES OPENS ROUND 2 WITH VICTORIES
After a turbulent last week of Eliminations Round 1 saw 2 teams getting waylaid by the side, the favorites opened Round 2 with contrasting victories in their games.
Division leaders PEX_APOLLO_NETBURNERS and PEX_ORTIGAS_ROCKETEERS posted lopsided wins but enforced different game strategies in hacking out the wins.
The NETBURNERS used awesome offensive power in demolishing the PEX_KB24_TEAM, 129-119 while the ROCKETEERS showed its defensive might in subduing PEX_ALLANJOID_PANTHERS, 99-84.
This has been the trademark of both teams from the get go. NETBURNERS with the combinations of Sir Charles, The Diesel and Scottie has been the personification of pure offensive firepower although their defense is also one of the league's best. On the other hand, the ROCKETEERS suffocating D is probably the best in the league anchored by Nate Thurmond, Walt Frazier and Bill Walton.
This would be an important thing to point out as both teams are on the verge of meeting each other at the end of the regular season. Both teams are setting up for a colossal matchup unless others catch up with them.
Talking of others, I believe that PEX_KB24_TEAM would be the biggest spoiler that could prevent a NETBURNERS-ROCKETEERS titular showdown. The 10-point loss by KB24 can be considered as quite close compared to the previous blowout wins by the NETBURNERS against other teams.
From the way it is bundled up right now, I expect a 3-way battle for the top between those 3 teams.
